Google Apps

Google offers powerful, reliable and secure web-based office tools for your organisation, which reduce IT costs and help employees collaborate more effectively.

With Google Apps you can…

  • Get customised email for your domain (i.e. name@yourdomain.com) with Gmail for business
  • Share and manage your calendars online with Google Calendar
  • Create team websites as easily as creating a document with Google Sites
  • Collaborate easily and simply with documents, presentations and spreadsheets with Google Docs

Reduce costs:
Traditional business email and collaboration tools can be costly to purchase, set up and maintain. With Google Apps everything is hosted online, which means your business doesn’t require additional hardware or software. Using Google Apps minimises the need for maintenance and upgrades as this is all managed by Google, reducing your IT costs even further.

Be more efficient:
Google Apps goes beyond traditional email and gives you numerous applications to help you work efficiently with people inside and outside your business.

  • Google Docs – web-based documents, spreadsheets and presentations let you share your work easily inside and outside your business. Google Docs enables you to work collaboratively on one version of your documents as well as giving you anytime access to your work.
  • Google Sites – with Google Sites create an intranet quickly and simply, without the need for IT support. Let project teams create and share sites to make sure information is shared throughout your business.
  • Google Video – share videos within your business while retaining security of your data, great for sharing things like training videos or team announcements.

Google Apps provides the power of a first-class email and office collaboration system for your domain at an affordable, predictable annual fee of just £33 per user/year.

More than 3 million businesses run Google Apps, with thousands more signing up every day.

Let Southern Cross help with your migration to this flexible, reliable and more efficient way of working.

Working from home: cheaper and easier than you might think!

You may well have watched the article this morning on BBC breakfast about working from home; it is much easier nowadays, using the technology we have at our disposal, to work from home with no loss of functionality.

Working from Home

With Google Apps (a full article on this is coming soon) all of our important documents and emails are accessible from anywhere in the world without any special software. We also use some very clever (and free!) synchronisation software, which enables us to make sure that we have access to all the files we have at work when we are at home.

The icing on the cake is the remote-extension feature of our VOIP telephone system which allows me to answer the main business number from the comfort of my home office. This is much more intelligent than simple call forwarding, both the phones in the main office and my home ring at the same time and If I pick up a call intended for Mike or Richard I can seamlessly transfer the call to them, in exactly the same way as I would working in the office. Equally, my colleagues back at base can forward calls to my home.

If you are interested in learning more about any of these technologies and how they can help your business then give us a call on 01794 400 105 or email info@socross.co.uk
